Artist Statement

In my interdisciplinary art practice, I delve into themes involving Georgia's cultural history, politics, memory and humor. Through sculpture, installation, and repoussé works , I challenge prevailing narratives, drawing from Soviet art and contemporary politics to explore Georgia's complex identity. Artists and activists like Nadya Tolokonnikova inspire me, as I navigate the space between memory and erasure. My recent installations like 'Gauzy Bows' subvert historical symbols, reflecting on conformity and resistance under the Soviet regime. My art serves as a provocative mechanism for social change, interrogating the intersections of individual identity, societal norms, and political agency.
